Rhythm City is a drama series aired in South Africa on free-to-air TV channel etv. The musical drama series was firstly aired on 9th July 2007. It was replaced by most popular soap opera Backstage. The Storyline of rhythm city is about trials of the people trying to come into the music industry but facing too many problem like infidelity, backstabbing, homosexuality and many others which are more likely to distroy the industry.
According to TAMS rating Rhythm City is getting more and more success than Backstage. The series celebrated 1000 episodes in June 2011 and 2000 episodes in March 2015.

Characters in Rhythm City


Zinzi Dandala (Ntando Duma): Zinzi is a young 16 years actress. She is Daughter of Doc Dandala.

 


Niki Bongco (Nolo Phiri): Niki is very charming character, She has great sense of humour and is overtly flirtatious.

 


Suffocate (Mduduzi Mabaso): Suffocate is the tough and surly owner of Soweto’s famous Kilowatt Club and ex-con gone good.

 


Fats (Mpho Molepo): Self-declared unofficial business partner of Suffocate. He is a cheerful person and has a positive outlook.

 


Mamokete (Connie Chiume): She lives with Kop (her husband) , Tshidi (daughter), and niece Reneilwe in DK.

 


Kop (Setlhabi Taunyane): Kop has a rural backgroung and he is very conservative man. Kop is the patriarch of his family.

 


Puleng Mofokeng (Tebogo Khalo): Puleng bravely decides to blaze her own trail when she not only leaves Suffo but also quits Kilowatt.

 


David Genaro (Jamie Bartlett): David is the worst puppet master within the world of Rhythm City. He is incredibly charming and very smooth.

 


All characters of Rhythm City has a great personality and they are playing a great part to make it popular and successful. Rhythm City airs on etv at 7:00 pm (south african time) Monday to Friday.
